Quetzalcoatl is known to be one of the most important deities of the Pre-colombian Mesoamerican world. Its name, composed of Quetzal, refering to the emerald plumed bird and Coatl, rattle snake, brings together sky and earth.
Our inspiration for this plumed-serpent design was inspired by the strength of the Aztec geometrical lines and the flow of the organic Mayan style. For that reason our design blends both styles in one bracelet.
This piece is hinged in two places along the snake's body in a slanted angle creating, when opened, a movement that resembles the slithering of a snake. A hidden "claw" clasp provide secure stylized closure.
This bracelet is hand-crafted using an overlay relief technique, entirely out of Sterling Silver with an 18k yellow gold detail around the serpent's Turquoise eye. It is about 1.25 inches wide on the top, finished with an antique patina and shaped as an oval.
